Slack has made some major changes to its free plan and raised prices in September. This is the first price increase since Slack was launched in 2014, but it only affects users of Slack?s ?Pro? plan. September 1st Increase your monthly Pro subscription From $ 8 per user to $ 8.75 per month, your annual Pro subscription will increase from $ 6.67 per user to $ 7.25 per month.
The Price increase It only affects Pro customers around the world, not Slack?s Business Plus or custom enterprise plans. However, there are ways to avoid price increases for another year. Current annual Pro subscribers can fix their existing annual rates for an additional year by renewing their subscription before September 1. Monthly Pro subscribers can also switch to an annual fee prior to September 1st to maintain the existing $ 6.67 per user monthly fee for one year.
Slack has also made major changes to its free plan. Currently, the free Slack server shows the latest 10,000 messages and up to 5GB of uploaded content. Starting September 1st, Slack will change this to show messages and uploads for the last 90 days. There is no limit to the number of messages sent or the amount of content uploaded. ?The majority of active free teams will have access to more message history with the new 90-day limit compared to the previous limit.? Blog post describes Slack.. ?No matter how much your free team uses Slack, you?ll always have access to your 90-day history.?
Free users of Slack also have access to a clip feature that allows users to send audio, video, and screen sharing messages over channels and DM. Free teams will be able to set the retention period for messages and files from September 1st.
